Cafe Review - Naughty and Nice - Bakewell

Café Review – Naughty and Nice, Bakewell

Ever been somewhere and thought, ‘YES! THIS IS IT! THIS IS THE MEANING OF LIFE, THE UNIVERSE AND EVERYTHING!’? No? Then clearly, you’ve never been to the ‘Naughty and Nice’ chocolatier and café in Bakewell.

Seriously, you must go to here. If it was a member of the Family Ness, it would be Perfection-Ness.

From the Hot Chocolate Soup (a cup of melted chocolate), to the Re-designed Milkshakes (vanilla milkshake with a chocolate bar blended in – and there’s a great choice of chocolate bar available), to the Greatest Cake I’ve Ever Eaten™ (Strawberry Mousse on the top layer, Cheesecake in the middle, and Chocolate Brownie on the bottom), it’s chocolate-heaven all the way through. And they don’t just serve chocolate-based food and drink – the Banana Milkshake was clearly made fresh with real bananas, and was by far the Greatest Banana Milkshake I’ve Ever Drunk™, and whatever the Chicken, Bacon and Tomato Sauce Panini was that I stole off my wife, it was so delicious she gave up trying to get it back off me and had to order another.

The staff are incredibly friendly, and I’ve clearly been in often enough for them to recognise me and ask how my son is. The theming of the building is wonderfully done as well, with a quirky informal style, even allowing you to leave messages on the bathroom walls in chalk.

In a connecting part of the building, is their actual chocolate shop, where they sell all manner of truffles, chocolate shoes, chocolate cars, chocolate Buddhas (yep, that’s right), hot chocolate on a stick (simply melt in hot milk), and specially designed cakes for any occasion you’d like. All of which taste great.

There’s so much love and care that goes into this café, it’s plain to see. It’s also helpful that the food is simply delicious, and the atmosphere is so friendly and inviting.

You just couldn’t wish for anything more from your local café.

Verdict: Visit now, lest your life be ever empty and hollow, having failed to sample that which belongs in the realm of the gods.
